The management team at a 125,000 sq. ft. life sciences lab and office building located in Boston, MA prevented a water damage catastrophe thanks to early leak detection from the AlertAQ™ water intelligence platform.

Water Leak Alarms After Hours

At 6:16 p.m. on a Saturday when the building was empty, the maintenance team at a life sciences lab and office building received a water leak phone call from from the AlertAQ™ platform. The alert informed the team that water had been detected in a mechanical room located on the 3rd floor. But before the facilities team arrived onsite, they received another alert from an Alert Labs water leak detector. This time the alert was coming from the 2nd floor mechanical room.

The AlertAQ™ water intelligence platform automatically logs all water leaks and allows users to add notes for further analysis.

CONDENSATE DRAIN PLAN CLOGGED

The facilities team discovered that the condensate drain pan for the air handling unit on the 3rd floor had become clogged and was overflowing causing water to run down to the 2nd floor mechanical room. The drain pan was promptly unclogged and the alert was noted as resolved in the AlertAQTM platform. A water problem that would have led to extensive top-down water damage was reduced to a minor incident which was cleaned up with a mop and bucket. The building management team continues to protect the high-value assets in the life sciences lab and office building with Alert Labs water leak detection and water flow monitoring solutions.

If we hadn’t received that leak alert from AlertAQ™, the water from the air handler unit would have kept on flowing. There would have been considerable damage.
