A water leak in a 4,000 square foot penthouse of a high-end condominium in Downtown Toronto was stopped thanks to the AlertAQ™ water intelligence platform and remote water shut-off valve, saving an estimated $1,000,000 in water damage.

A 100-unit, luxury condominium in Downtown Toronto installed leak management solutions throughout the building, as well as within each homeowner’s suite. A comprehensive remote water management system, including water leak detector flood pucks, flow monitoring, and automatic water shut-off valves, was installed in each penthouse unit.

In the steam room of one of the penthouses, parts of the system malfunctioned causing water to leak out while the homeowner was away. The water traveled through the unit until it touched and Alert Labs water leak detector which triggered the remote and automatic water shut-off valve to turn off the water. An automated phone call was also made to TAG, the team that oversees the building’s smart systems.

Notifications are sent from the AlertAQ™ water intelligence platform to users' phone with information about the location of the water leaks
The leak from the steam room could have caused an absolute water damage disaster costing about 1 million dollars. Fortunately, the crisis was averted thanks to the Alert Labs leak detection system.

Had there not been a leak detection solution, there would have been damage to the hardwood floors, luxury furniture, and the communications closet which housed a control center for a high-end audio-visual system. Damages could have cost upwards of one million dollars
