Alert Labs received a Clean Technology award as part of Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 program. Launched last year, the new award leadership category recognizes Canada’s top clean innovators providing processes, goods, or services that reduce environmental impacts.

Alert Labs CEO, Bob Wasserman, delivers a special message about Alert Labs receiving Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 program Clean Technology award.

Alert Labs CEO, Bob Wasserman, credits their proprietary algorithms and locally designed and manufactured sensors for the company’s successful deployment and support of scalable leak detection technology and analytics-driven water management solutions. The company’s powerful AlertAQ™ platform has helped facilities and building management professionals in more than 12,000 buildings save over $80,000,000 in water bills and damage, while preventing over 100,000,000 pounds of CO2e emissions—about the amount of CO2 absorbed by 2 million trees in a year.

“We're thrilled to be named among Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 award winners in the Clean Technology category. We strive to help our customers eliminate waste and prevent damage to their properties with tools that help them manage water utilization sustainably,” said Wasserman. “With the insights and alerts generated by the AlertAQ™ platform, our clients are able to identify water waste and leaks—some of which are not yet causing visible damage. Real-time water leak alerts and remote water shut-off allow them to respond quickly to sudden leak events. The platform also provides cost-saving data, benchmarking, automated water reports and metrics for ESG reporting that are unique to AlertAQ™.”

The AlertAQ™ water intelligence platform automatically identified a hidden leak (shown in red) which was resolved by the facility management team. Without the machine-learning enabled water use analysis from the platform, the water use could have continued for months or years.

“These outstanding companies are amongst the elite of Canada’s clean technology sector, developing and bringing to market innovations that create a more resilient and sustainable future for the environment,” stated Anders McKenzie, partner and national leader for the Technology Fast 50 program at Deloitte Canada. “With ever-increasing business opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint, make energy efficiency gains, and accelerate the deployment of renewable energy sources, these winners distinguish themselves in a highly promising and dynamic space. They represent a cohort of innovators who are contributing to the environment and helping to create a sustainable business and technology landscape in Canada.”

Eligibility in the Clean Technology category requires applicants to meet the same criteria as Technology Fast 50 nominees except they must have a minimum revenue of $50,000 in 2019 and $5 million in 2022. The winning companies are ranked by their revenue-growth percentage over that period. The majority of the companies’ revenues must come from products or services that have a positive environmental impact in the following areas: carbon emissions reduction potential, resource circulation (reduce, reuse, and recycle), or environmental preservation and safety.

This year marks 26 years since the establishment of Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 award program in Canada.
